Bio: David Finn is a hockey veteran has and been playing since the age of 5 years old. Starting his hockey career as a winger on the offensive line he was able to find his love of the sport. While his sister Debby would figure skate in the early mornings, David and his father, Rick would slap the puck around on the studio rink with mom, Bobi supporting as only a great hockey mom can do. At the beginning of his Bantam year, David’s parents expressed concern around his size versus the other players and the possibility of being injured with the introduction of checking at that level. As a compromise with his parents, David decided to move into the goal and never looked back. Throughout his years at Deerfield High School and Bradley University, David continued to hone his goaltending skills with the schools hockey programs and playing in many competitive tournaments. Post college, David continued to play as well as coach for Team Illinois Girls Hockey. As a coach he led the team to multiple State Championships. Many of the girls continued on to college hockey programs, coaching at the college level and even competing in the Olympics for Team USA.
Today David plays in multiple competitive mens leagues throughout the Chicagoland area. The opportunity to join the Maccabi team and compete in Israel has been a lifelong dream for David and he looks forward to being a part of this incredible team of hockey players, coaches and Jewish men. David and his wife Jodi currently live in Northbrook, Illinois and they have 1 son, Brendan age 18. When not playing hockey, David and his family enjoy traveling to tropical destinations and spending time at their summer home in Wisconsin.
