Bio: Jon is a returning player from the 2013 Gold Medal winning Maccabi Masters Team (and a 2017 Masters selectee). That memorable and rewarding experience brought his lifelong passion for ice hockey full circle as he first discovered the sport as a 7 year-old watching the 1980 Miracle on Ice team win gold at Lake Placid. Within a month of this historic event that changed the landscape of hockey (and his own life) in the US forever, Jon attended his first NHL game in Philadelphia. He quickly became a diehard Flyers fan and a student of the game; learning how to play goal consumed him. Jon shared his new and ever-growing passion for hockey with his younger brother, Josh, first in the driveway on their feet, then eventually on the ice at summer goalie camps around North America. He then played travel youth hockey in his home state of New Jersey, Jr. Varsity at the University of Vermont and at the Junior level in Stockholm, Sweden while studying abroad. His passion for the game continues to this day, on the ice, behind the bench, and in the stands. Jon plays in competitive mens' leagues wherever he goes, and hopes to help bring home another Gold this summer. He has coached various levels of youth hockey in Vermont, Minnesota, New Mexico, and Arizona, most recently this past season instructing his 11 year old son, Jakob, who has followed in his father's skates into the goal crease stopping pucks. While 12 year old Rebekah can skate and enjoys watching her dad and brother play, she spends most of her free time wielding a paint brush and whisk making art and baking. Jon's interest in the history of hockey led to a degree in that same field, while pursuing his other creative passions led to a career in graphic design.
Currently, Jon is a senior level creative for an advertising agency with previous work in collegiate and professional sports. When not on the ice, he can be found in the gym, hiking and biking on the desert trails, and enjoying the local brewing, arts and music scene around Phoenix.
